    Hmm. Don’t think I’ve ever seen blocks of flowers before in a Japanese garden. Masses of flowering cherry trees, or of colored maple leaves, or wisteria hanging down, yes. But not massed groups of flowers on the ground like a Dutch garden. Wonder if Japanese aesthetics are being influenced (almost wrote “corrupted”) by the West? Hmm. Hope not.

      Rest easy, those were just rows of square pots put in temporarily by the garden club.
